It’s-a me, Dario!

Declaration of intents

Hi, I am Dario, welcome to my blog.

This is my first blog ever, although I've been thinking about it for long time, but always procrastinated for some reason or another. But I made it, evvai!

Who the hell are you

Before diving into what and why, let's see who I am. I am an Italian Software Engineer who's been around the industry for more than a decade now. I won't bore you with my history now, that will be matter of a separate post.

What the heck are you talking about?

I'm passionate about 3 main things in my life:

Computers (no way?)

...and all things around, from the Data Link to the Application Layer of the ISO-OSI stack. Note the physical one is not here not because I don't like it, but because I'm convinced I suck at it, although I experiment with it every now and then too.

This blog will mostly talk about computer stuff: personal projects, personal thoughts, tutorials, rants, and so on.

Pizza

Ok, I know what you're thinking. Italian...Pizza, what a cliché.

But that's the thing: I do not only like pizza. I do pizza. From the bare flour to the final heavenly product on the table. It is a cliché indeed; and even more than that, because I'm also Neapolitan and, in case you don't know, the Neapolitan Pizza is considered the original modern pizza, with its roots in the 18th century!

I won't debate on what pizza is the best because that's silly discussion, but I do I really nice Neapolitan Pizza (and, to be honest, Roman "pizza in teglia" too ).

So I think this blog will have a part of this too, maybe with recipes and general thoughts.

Games

Again, what a cliché for a nerd. Writing about this makes me think: Damn Dario, you're such a usual person... is that bad? But I think everybody feels special in some way from the childhood and I think that sense of speciality must not abandon you neither fill your ego, it's just there, and you can go look for the speciality of people out there.

Back to games, childhood is where I (and most of people) grew up passion about them, from the first Tomb Raider and Crash Bandicoot games on the PS1 to the Game Boy Color Pokemon games. Those were games few Kb or Mb large: we are very far away from those times, but the passion is still there.

I usually like single-player narrative games, linear or open-world, with a preference for the former ones. I also have an addiction to strategy games, being them real time or browser based.

I don't know if the blog will talk about games. Maybe. Have to think about that.

Reading

This is probably not so obvious nowadays. People are stopping reading and that's a bit scary to be honest, but I keep spending time on several genres: Sci-Fi, Fantasy, Novel for the most part. When I have more energy, essays, philosophy and engineering books are the first choice.

I'll probably dedicate some time here to those books that I think deserve it, but it'll probably be the less consistent one.

So what's next?

I don't really know, here's a list of ideas for the next posts:
